About this event
Help a family keep their home in the family — in just one evening. SALSA’s TODD Clinic pairs volunteer attorneys and law students with low-income homeowners who need a Transfer on Death Deed, a document that allows a home to pass directly to a designated beneficiary without probate. For many of the families we serve, this is the only accessible way to legally transfer their home to a loved one.
What You’ll Do
• Meet with pre-screened clients during scheduled appointments
• Educate clients on available asset transfer tools
• Review the client’s title report and supporting documents, and provide limited advice on any steps needed to clear title
• Draft, execute, and file the Transfer on Death Deed
No real estate experience required. Clients are pre-screened, a volunteer law student works alongside you, and SALSA staff are available for questions throughout. Volunteers are covered under SALSA’s Professional Liability policy, and clinic hours count toward the State Bar’s recommended 50 hours of annual pro bono service.
